Bisulfite modification of tumor DNA and real-time PCR are used to quantify CpG methylation within the MGMT gene promoter. Please note detection of MGMT promoter methylation analysis is qualitative.

Specimen Requirements

FFPE solid tumor tissue: Paraffin block is preferred. Alternatively, send 1 H&E slide plus 5-10 unstained slides cut at 5 or more microns. Please use positively-charged slides and 10% NBF fixative. Do not use zinc fixatives. A minimum of 40% tumor is required. If the tumor cannot be enriched to at least 40%, then testing will not be performed.

Storage and Transportation

Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen. NYS clients please provide date and time of Collection.
