Specimen Requirements
Blood Slides: Two (2) bedside smears or 1 mL of peripheral blood in EDTA (purple-top) tube.
Bone Marrow Aspirate: Four (4) to eight (8) bedside smears or 1 mL in EDTA (purple-top) tube.
Bone Marrow Core: > 1.0 cm (length) in 10% NBF fixative. Place vial in separate bag.
Bone Marrow Clot: > 1.0 cm (length) in 10% NBF fixative. Place vial in separate bag.
Storage and Transportation
Refrigerate specimen. Do not freeze. Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen. NYS clients please provide date and time of collection.
