Through our Tech-Only Service, NeoGenomics offers multiple opportunities for client pathologists to participate in the diagnostic process and create revenue by billing for professional services they provide.

In Anatomic Pathology, testing procedures commonly have two components: the professional component or “PC”, which is performed by the ordering physician, and the technical component or “TC”. The technical component involves test-specific sample preparation and processing to produce result data, and is always performed by NeoGenomics.

The steps to fulfill the professional component vary depending on the test ordered.

Manual microdissection for EGFR, KRAS, BRAF Circle target area of tumor and mark % No interpretation or reporting of molecular data is required; NeoGenomics completes all services after slide is marked.

Practices utilizing this model often refer to it as a “TC/PC split” and order “tech-only” or “TC only” from NeoGenomics. Microdissection for Solid Tumor Molecular Tests

  • Available for these molecular tests: EGFR, KRAS, BRAF V600E for colon & lung, BRAF V600E/K/D for melanoma
  • Client pathologists mark the most appropriate area of the tumor for testing, and NeoGenomics does all the rest.
    • On an H&E slide, circle the target area for analysis, aiming to enrich at least 30% tumor within the circle
    • Write the percent tumor within the circle on the slide (required)
    • Client pathologists have then performed the professional component of manual microdissection and may bill 88381-26
